It used to be green once

The text “It used to be green once” was based on a poor family, I know this because in the text it explained on how the kids’ father would always buy over ripe apples and pears and the mum would always cut the rotten part off the pears and give it to the kids’ to take to school. Another example of how I knew this family was poor was when the mum would use her kids’ clothes then cut them in half and make them wear it for swimming, but to make things worse there were 14 of them all together including the parents which was 16 all together. In my opinion I think that since there are 16 people living in one house it would be difficult for the parents to afford food to feed every single one of them. Another example of the family being poor is that the mum has non working breaks and struggles to stop the car, and when it comes to the paint they realize that it had been painted over several times with multiple colours.

My favourite character from the text was the mother, because I loved how she never cared about what other people thought about her and she always loved helping people no matter how embarrassed her kid’s where of her She would still carry on to help the people in their neighbourhood. And another reason why the mother is my favourite character is because whenever she goes out shopping she would always make sure that she gets everything the people want and would always make sure to never miss anybody regardless of what her kids thought about her about having a car with no breaks.

Something the text made me think about, was when the dad won the lottery and had all the money that they could ever imagine,   the mum and dad didn’t change even after all the new stuff they got for there selfs and the kids, and that just goes to show that they didn’t even care about the money they we’re just happy that there kids were happy with all the new things they had gotten. In my opinion most people would change and think that just because they got all the money they think that  they are just better than everyone else that have less money then they do.

We have been learning all the different things in mathematics ratios and like fractions, ratios can often be simplified. To simplify a ratio, divide all parts of the ratio by their highest common factor.

For Example : So you’re basically just dividing the numbers by depending on if it’s even or odd ?

What are some of the cultural universals? Gift-giving, marriage, bodily adornment, incest taboo, and rules of hygiene.

What are the most important/interesting/memorable things you have learned this term in SST? The most important thing I’ve learned is getting to know all the different things about my culture and even all the different cultures.

The most memorable thing I’ve learned in Social studies For example, many Tongans place a high value on their families, paying respect to those of seniority and maintaining oral traditions of storytelling. Modern-day Tongans are often friendly, warm and hospitable people who prioritise positive social interactions over worrying about the future.

My favourite t.v series is the loud house Lincoln Loud is an eleven-year-old boy who lives with ten sisters. With the help of his right-hand man Clyde, Lincoln finds new ways to survive in such a large family every day.Things are crowded in the Loud household, with 11 children 10 girls and one boy causing craziness in the house. As the only boy, 11-year-old Lincoln is in the middle of all of the chaos. Whether his sisters are giving him unwanted makeovers or he’s racing them to the couch to gain control of the TV, Lincoln is often getting involved in antics with his siblings. Lincoln’s best friend Clyde, who happens to be an only child, is jealous of Lincoln’s large family and is always willing to play his part in the schemes. Clyde has a crush on Lori, Lincoln’s oldest sister and self-proclaimed boss, who is dating Bobby, who holds many jobs — including lifeguard and mall security guard — even though he’s not very smart.

In the fictional town of Royal Woods, Michigan, Lincoln Loud is the only boy and middle child in a family of eleven children. He has ten sisters with distinctive personalities: bossy eldest child Lori ditzy fashionista Leni  musician Luna; comedian Luan athletic Lynn; gloomy goth Lucy; polar-opposite twins Lola and Lana; child genius Lisa, and baby Lily. Lincoln often encounters problems as a result of his large number of family members, which his best friend Clyde helps him solve. Clyde spends much of his time at the Loud House and communicates with Lincoln via a walkie talkie when he is not around. Lincoln normally explains his issues to the audience by breaking the fourth wall and speaking to the viewers. While most of Lincoln’s plans to make his life easier backfire, his predicaments tend to bring the family closer together.

What we have been learning about in social studies is about our culture and where our culture comes from and what i have been learning about my culture. I’am half Maori and half Tongan i get my Maori and Tongan from my dad and i  also have a little bit of German from my mum’s side of the  family i was really surprised about how Germany’s culture works. And this is how German culture works  is by being thrifty, being sensible, and respecting one another’s privacy, and they typically respect the structure and laws of society to an above-average degree. But Tongans culture is more like Tongans place a high value on their families, paying respect to those of seniority and maintaining oral traditions of storytelling but now that i learnt about my cultures and also what culture means.

For my science fair project i have chosen elephant toothpaste. The reason why I chose elephant toothpaste is because i thought it would be cool to learn to do something new and also to show the people that are going to watch the science fair how much of how cool elephant toothpaste works and what it does to make it more interesting. The hypothesis of my science project is by mixing hydrogen peroxide, yeast, and dish soap together, a reaction will occur that produces a lot of foam. And while that is all coming together i will wait and then once the elephant toothpaste starts to react then it will have a little explosion but  it could make a bit of a mess.

My dream place i would go to  during the holidays will probably be Bora Bora because of how nice it looks and plus it’s a quiet little island and also because of the cute little baons.  And i will also love to swim in the clear blue  water and maybe i’ll just go to bora bora by myself because i need to get away from my siblings because they are a  pain in the A**.  But i still love them but yeah  i will love to get away and go to bora bora because of how beautiful it looks and also because of how small it is just enough to keep me away from

On the holidays me and my brother wiremu went down to Auckland to visit my dads older brother and also some of my dads family. We enjoyed our time down in Auckland and then the second day of spending the first week of holiday down there our dads second oldest brother and his girlfriend  came to visit with our  little cousins which they weren’t anymore. But my brother and i  got to spend the day with our cousins  so we went  to the mall and the  park and heaps of other places, by the time we got home we were so tired and then we went to sleep. Then when we woke up the next day our mum was outside talking to  our uncles so when we woke up and went outside our mum told us we had to go back home because my little sister had a netball game and my mum really wanted us there to support her. We got our things and headed home, by the time we got home we had to get ready for our little sisters netball game that was happening down in whangarei  so when we got to whangarei i decided to message one of my boy best friend that lived in whangarei.  So when i was about to leave to meet up with him my mum said that I had to take my brother because she didn’t want me walking around by myself so when we met up with him my brother started getting to know him and when they did they were so close i was basically third wheeling with them. Then 2 hours later my mum called me telling us to meet her at the pools because my sister wanted to go for a swim with a couple of friends and when they were done with there swimming we went home and me and my brother went straight to sleep because we were soooooooo tired of walking around whangarei for ages.  And then for the rest of the holiday i was just in my room watching movies and eating heaps lol but yeah i had a pretty solid holiday.
